PARADISE STREET - genius planar case study
Galliford Try along with FBM Architects and Longworth teamed up to create the £53 million Paradise Street student accommodation development for Axo Student Living.
With its prominent position on the southern approach to Coventry town centre, this widely celebrated award wining project consists of 3 blocks, ranging in size from 3 to 14 storeys housing 893 beds, incasing a central communal courtyard.
According to FBM Architects the inspiration behind the visually striking design of Paradise street was taken from Coventry’s historical medieval city. The 2,000sqm internal courtyard replicates the intimacy of a walled city whilst the 3 monumental towers tie-in harmoniously with the ever growing scale of modern day Coventry.
Anodised Genius Planar has been used vertically to create a strong, contemporary non-combustible facade.
The use of multiple colours and solid vertical lines creates an impactful visual dynamic which extenuates the hight of the tower envelope.
